Empowering youth beyond survival

Young people make up more than half of the world’s population, yet they are too often the most overlooked. Across the globe, youth face unemployment, poverty, and systems that limit their opportunities. Many leave education too early, lack safe spaces, or are excluded from decisions about their own future.

At the same time, youth carry creativity, resilience, and a drive for change. They are not a burden, they are the future. WeAreMAYA exists to make sure that future is possible.

For many children and young people, survival takes priority over dreams. Education becomes unaffordable, vocational training is out of reach, and employment opportunities are scarce. Without guidance or safe mentorship, youth are vulnerable to cycles of poverty, exploitation, and hopelessness.

Mentorship and Safeguarding

Every young person deserves someone in their corner. We connect youth with trusted mentors who guide, protect, and walk beside them through life’s toughest choices.

Education Access

Education access for underserved youth is safety, stability, and a pathway out of poverty. We step in when fees, supplies, or circumstances force children out of class, ensuring they stay in education and protecting them from risks that can alter their entire life trajectory.

Digital and Vocational Skills

In communities where crime is a daily backdrop, choosing another path takes courage. We meet that courage with opportunity. By matching each young person’s skills, passions, and creativity, we provide training that changes their life trajectory. Youth gain options far beyond the streets, futures built on talent, dignity, and choice.

Youth Enterprise

Young people are not waiting for rescue they’re building. From side-hustles that grow into real businesses to ventures that turn waste into worth, we back their ideas and prove that enterprise can do what aid never could: create ownership, income, and independence.

Turning waste textiles into fashion pieces, training youth in tailoring and design, and creating income through social responsibility ventures.

EcoCycle

Equipping girls with dignity by teaching youth to produce reusable sanitary pads, reducing period poverty and creating a community led micro-business.

Young Teens in Talent

A grassroots dance crew turned safe space and community hub, empowering 80+ youth in the informal settlement of Mathare, Nairobi, Kenya.

Digital Futures

Training youth in videography, photography and digitial story telling. Providing creative skills that open up. in media, marketing and content creation.

Education Access

Keeping children safe in school by assisting with fees, uniforms and supplies. Protecting futures and easing family burdens.
